Welcome to PACIFIC NORTHWEST SWIMMING

Hot Splashes. . . .

05/13/08: Dear Pool Supporters: Thank you for emailing the Seattle City Council last October during the Mayor’s budget hearings. Thanks to you, the Council mandated that the Parks Department perform a preliminary pool feasibility study. Also, thanks to you, aquatics supporters made an outstanding showing during the Parks Strategic Plan public forums. Now it’s time to remind both Parks and the Seattle City Council of your support for pools. Both the final Parks Strategic Plan and the Pro-Parks Levy proposal are being hammered out right now. On top of this, the Council will soon review the prelim pool study. Your participation really does make a difference. Read on for instructions on how YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR AQUATICS, AGAIN!  Read the entire posting.
05/01/08: Please note that the PNS Office email is back to the well known office@pns.org  Please make the change in your computer.
05/01/08: The Banquet of Champions hosted by the Tacoma Athletic Commission, is an event that celebrates our community¹s sports heritage both past and present. The Banquet of Champions, scheduled for Thursday, June 5th at the Tacoma Dome. Dick and Sylvia Hannula and their children will be recognized with the First Family of Sports Award in the community. It is a great honor and most befitting as I am sure you and many others would agree.  Read more about the The Banquet of Champions.
4/26/08: Update on the Husky Pool: While planning for a pool on campus is at a standstill pending selection of a new Athletic Director, the Sand Point idea continues to inch along.  The City of Seattle has a website where people can give input about the Seattle Parks Strategic Plan that they have been working on for the past few months.  In the community input sections, there is a consistent thread about the need for more swimming pools, particularly outdoor pools, to meet the aquatics needs of Seattle.  This is an excellent opportunity for people to advocate for a 50 meter facility at Magnuson Park (Sand Point).  Please take the time to give them your thoughts on a 50 meter facility at Magnuson Park.  http://www.seattle.gov/parks/Publications/ParksActionPlan.htm
04/26/08: The United States Olympic Committee announced today the television broadcast schedule for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Swimming. This link will take you to the televised schedule.
04/24/08: The scheduling committee met on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 to review the bids for the 2008-2009 swim calendar. We would like to thank all of you that volunteered to host meets. We have contacted teams whose bids were not accepted and asked them to step into some of the open spots. However, many of the challenge meets still are in need of hosts. Read the entire posting.

Those of us who have worked with Dick over the years will miss his presence on deck, his depth of knowledge, his smile and his dedication to a sport and a community which he loved. PNS extends our sincere condolences to the family.
04/17/08:  Nathan Adrian, long time TSC swimmer recently competed in Manchester England at the FINA World Short Course Championships as part of the USA National Team. Adrian was part of the American’s 400 free relay team that set a world record on the first day of the meet, then he came back to earn a silver medal and American record in the 400 medley relay on Sunday.
