IN LOVING MEMORY- Ryan Pachciarz
Ryan Pachciarz, a longtime member of the PNS community, passed away on February 5th from brain cancer.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Ryan moved back to the Pacific Northwest after time in South Dakota and Texas and joined Issaquah Swim Team in the summer of 2006 as the program's first-ever Head Age Group Coach. He eventually rose to the level of Head Coach & CEO of the Sockeyes before stepping back from swimming in 2018. During his coaching career, Ryan developed numerous swimmers who achieved National Top 16 times, coached multiple National and Olympic Trials qualifiers, and had an athlete selected for the USA National Junior Team.
Ryan was also active with Pacific Northwest Swimming, serving as a coach for the PNS All Stars Team and the PNS North America Challenge Cup Team and contributing to the Technical Planning and Age Group Committees. In addition to his involvement in the LSC, Ryan was the Immediate Past President of the Greater Seattle Swimming Association.
Ryan possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of swimming and enjoyed everything about the sport. He was a passionate student of aquatics and appreciated quality of movement, creativity and originality in thought and teaching, and adhering to a standard of excellence in pursuit of one's goals.
He is survived by his wife, Kristy, and children Dylan and Kamryn.
